Collectors —

We are very excited to announce… we’ve officially kicked off our 1st development sprint toward the first iteration of async PvP Battles.

When we started working on Chronogram, we knew that we eventually wanted to give collectors a way to face-off using their cards and have something to do with their Chronogram cards besides collecting them and trading them.

We never knew exactly what the game itself would look like, but over the past few months we’ve been carefully considering options. We know we want to build an experience that is:

  • Centered around ancient mythology: gods, titans, heroes, monsters, folklore and more

  • Built on top of the collecting experience that is currently in Beta

  • Strategic and full of choices (starting with the deck-building phase)

  • Easy to learn (but with plenty of depth)

  • Easy to pick up, hard to put down

  • Battles that last a few minutes but can be highly replayable

  • PvP while still being considerate of everyone’s time

  • Enjoyable by both newcomers and those well-versed in the TCG genre

Ultimately, we’ve always wanted Chronogram to be an experience that you can enjoy at your own pace

The individual members of our team have spent hours playing games like Magic, Hearthstone, Gwent, Marvel Snap, and many amazing indie games like Slay The Spire. We’ve gathered inspiration, and after many play tests, we think we have a concept that we’ll all be able to enjoy once it’s ready.

In the meantime…

Go on and keep collecting as many cards as you can, complete Sets (this will buff your cards in-game), and keep selling those dupes in the Marketplace so that you can all build your collections as fast as possible.

This way, once the game is here, you’ll have many cards to pick from to build your decks.

Format

The initial version of the game will be a form of asynchronous PvP with Ranking. Build your Deck and fight against the Decks of other players (within your Rank Tier) which are controlled by AI. It won’t be real-time PvP yet, but we are open to developing that in the future if that is what players are interested in. For the first version, we are focusing on being able to play at all times, and being able to take as much or as little time on each turn as each player wants during their day, and for that we believe that the best format is to be able to play against an AI that is controlling the Deck built by another player, and vice-versa.

Timeline

We plan on spending ~10 weeks on this first version of the game. Please don’t think this will be a game that, upon release, will be as polished or as feature-rich as some of the other games I’ve mentioned on this post, but it will be fun and unique! That’s what we’re aiming for. Some other games have been in development for years or even decades. We will hopefully get there, but what we are most excited about is building something unique and different together with our community of players. Releasing early, getting ideas, suggestions, and as much feedback as possible to improve the game together.
